Feature Friday | Joanna Waterfall
F E A T U R E F R I D A Y
It is Friday! Here at Imani Collective, we love to feature our favorite women who are daily doing good in this world, challenging the status quo, empowering and inspiring us daily. Today we want you to meet someone who we think is one pretty cool woman.
Joanna resides in Los Angeles, CA and is the Founder of Yellow Co.
Tell us more about what you do and how you empower the community of women around you.
I run an organization for entrepreneurial minded women who are working for the good of the world. We empower women to be who they were created to be, so they can then go out and make the world a better place, simply by being themselves. We connect them with each other, resources and experiences that help them to know themselves and what their unique impact they bring to the world is.
Who or what inspires you?
I go through phases of being inspired by different thing and people, depending on what's going on in my life. Right now, I'm inspired by resilience. When people face super difficult situations, criticism or even moral failures and don't give up. When they continue to move forward, taking ownership of their story and yet not letting their past define them. Man, I'm inspired just thinking about it!!
What are you most proud of in the work that you do?
When I think of the relationships that have been created, the decisions that have been made, the thoughts and shifts that have been sparked in one woman's head because of an event we put on- that makes me proud. I'm a huge believer in the ripple effect- and I know full well that my work has had a ripple effect of good on the world. It reaches far wider than I'll ever know- but knowing that the world would look different without my work makes me very proud.
What is your favorite room in your space?
Probably our living room. There are so many memories in this tiny room! We've had sleepovers with 15+ high school girls (our house is no larger than 600 sq ft!) we've had dinner parties, deep conversations over wine with friends, tears have been shed and laughs have been belted out in this room. It's the main space in our home that we share with our community- and for that- I love it.
Share with us more about your passion for connecting and creating community?
When your home is a space where you feel like you can rest, rejuvenate and then go out into the world as your best self- that's when your space and your passions work together- one helping the other do its job.
One last thing to live by,
Don't let your successes go to your head or your failures go to your heart.
