F E A T U R E   F R I D A Y

If you've seen us at a market, you've most likely met our Director of Marketing & Events, Annette Wilson. Annette is from Utah, has a degree from Utah State University in Marketing, and has been with Imani for one and a half years.

What do you do in your position at Imani Collective?

Although we all wear many hats here at Imani, I mostly take care of two things: social media marketing and setting up + running markets. I post to our social media accounts, collaborate with influencers + other companies for giveaways, set up product photoshoots, and run our weekend markets across the country.

What drew you to work for this company?

I originally reached out to Imani because of it's love for women empowerment! I was a stay-at-home mom and was looking for volunteer opportunities near me that empowered women. When I met the incredible women working for the company, I knew I had to be a part of it! It's been such a huge blessing in my life to be able to balance my work life and my "mom life" in a way that I feel is best for me and my family.  Their holistic approach to working moms applies to every member of the Imani team, not just the artisans, and it's an amazing way to run a business.

What is something you have overcome/are overcoming as a woman in this world?

As a woman in today's world, it's a huge accomplishment to find contentment in where you are + who you are while social media is constantly making you play "the comparison game."  It's something that I work at every day, but I feel like I have come so far these past few years from where I used to be in trying to compete with everyone else. I've learned to be more present, live in the moment, and enjoy each stage of life while focusing on my own goals + dreams.

What is something you’ve done/you’re doing that makes your proud?
Being a working mom. At this stage of life, it's always a little chaotic, but I love being able to look at my two sweet boys at the end of the day and know that I am working hard for their future + putting in the work as their mama to help them learn + grow into great human beings.
What is your favorite food?

Cheese. :) Anything with cheese.

Describe your ideal day:
Sleeping in. Waking up to a delicious breakfast overlooking somewhere beautiful. Spending the day exploring wherever I am with my family in beautiful weather (75 degrees and sunny). Maybe take a break to go to a spa for a massage. Eating delicious dinner with all my family and friends. Staying up late watching movies, playing games, and laughing.

One last thing to live by,

"How you make other's feel about themselves says a lot about you."
