MEET JOHN

Although our workshop consists mostly of female artisans, we have a handful of extremely talented male artisans that bring so much to our Imani Collective community + family! John has been with us for many years + has some of the best blanket weaving skills in all of Kenya.

What do you do at Imani Collective?

I weave blankets, rugs and help in the dying of wool.

What drew you to work for this company?

The working environment is really good here and the employees are really taken care of with wonderful benefits.

What is something you’ve done/you’re doing that makes your proud?

Working for Imani Collective has brought about good changes at home,  I've been able to provide financially for my family on a monthly basis.  Secondly, being able to recomend alot of weavers in the country and for them to be able to secure a job here at Imani Collective has really blessed my heart and mentoring Peter in weaving blankets, makes me very proud.

What is your favorite food?

Ugali, Skuma (kale)  with meat.
Describe your ideal day:

My ideal day would be coming to work early in the morning,  preferably by 6am to avoid the traffic jam, work all day,  being creative in making different blanket patterns and designs,  leave work at 5pm - head home, rest by reading a book,  prepare dinner and sleep.

One last thing to live by,

Bless others as you are being blessed by God!!

*All of John's handwoven blankets are sold in our Kenya shop located in Old Town, Mombasa.
